2015 AIChE Annual Meeting Proceedings

Session: Flow Assurance 101

In this session, speakers from industry and academia will provide an introduction to common problems encountered during oil production related to asphaltene, wax, gas hydrate and scale formation. These organic and inorganic deposits can significantly reduce the flow of oil from the reservoir to the surface facilities, they might cause significant downtime and require expensive intervention procedures. The state-the-art techniques used to assess the problems, as well as methods for their prediction, prevention and remediation will be also presented. This session requires no previous experience in the area of Flow Assurance. Undergraduate and graduate students, and young professionals are encouraged to attend.
