(719e) CO2 Absorption into Solutions of N-Methyldiethanolamine (MDEA) Mixed with Selected Amino Acids Using Stopped Flow Technique

Authors

Blended solutions of N-methyldiethanolamine (MDEA) mixed with salts of glycine and taurine were studied in this work to absorb carbon dioxide from natural and flue gases. The obtained results show that  the new solutions could be promising absorbent for CO2 capture from natural and industrial flue gases. In this work, the reaction mechanism and kinetics were investigated using stopped flow technique at a temperature range varying between 293 and 313 K. The reaction pathway was described using zwitterion mechanism. The kinetic data obtained from the absorption process occurring in the fast reaction regime for amine concentration in the range of 0.125 - 1M were analyzed and the kinetic parameters associated to the reaction were obtained by nonlinear regression.
