A series of Ni catalysts supported on CeO2-ZrO2 prepared via co-precipitation were synthesized and evaluated in the reverse water gas shift reaction (RWGS). XRD, SEM, BET, TPR, TEM and XPS were employed to characterize these catalysts. Catalytic activities of Ni/CeO2-ZrO2 catalysts with different Ni contents were performed under atmospheric pressure in a quartz fixed-bed reactor in the temperature range of 823–1023 K. It was shown that CO selectivity changes with the different reaction conditions and reaches 99.6% over Ni/CeO2-ZrO2 catalysts when at 1023K.Catalysts based on Ni supported on CeO2-ZrO2 performed very high activity, selectivity and stability of CO2 conversion to CO at high temperatures. It turns out that Ni is able to be incorporated into the CeO2-ZrO2 lattice and can be considered as active sites for the RWGS.
