Investment leaders need deliverables that include financial metrics and risk models that reflect the possible realities of the investment. The ability to reduce risk is paramount to the successful skill set of the leadership team. The financial math distills decision-making comparative parameters to other investments. Many early pitch teams fail to communicate the salient points that drive the investment. Making money is the primary reason for all business. Business plan elements must include developing the market and the presentation of credible data that shows the current progress and the projected milestones. The multiple tranches of a chemical process or product investment adds complexity. Early investors are balanced with later money and value must continually be increased. Different firms have different time horizons and different investment metrics. The considerations and diligence for a chemical engineering investment is different and more detailed than the ones that make the news.
