Increasing energy demand and globally occurring climate changes have been the key motivation for accelerating the installation of renewable energy sources as an alternative to environmentally endangering fossil fuels.
Solar and wind power generation is a well known example. A single renewable energy source may be not enough to compete against fossil fuels yet. On the other hand, the aggregation of separate renewables could have a significant impact on the overall energy system.
The integration of different kinds of energy sourcse will be an interesting topic. Multiple types of different energy sources may be much different from the original separate energy supply case. Then the issue is understanding the incorporation of multiple renewable sources. The multiple types of renewable energies may be employed in a hybrid manner. The resulting hybrid renewable energy system (HRES) should deserve further attention.
In this paper a novel framework is presented as an decision-supporting tool for designing HRES. It is essential to analyze the varying renewable energy outputs to minimize total cost of the HRES system while achieving operational stability. This paper employs a time series based scheme and actual data in the literature. This study investigated the optimal design of HRES. The energy generation using synthetic time series compare that to the previous research. Several actual numberical cases are presented to illustrate the applicability of the proposed framework.
