Supercritical water gasification is expected to be a promising technology for efficient gasification of wet biomass.  One of the important component of biomass is protein, which is produced by polymerization of amino acids.  In this study, gasification characteristics of amino acids are investigated.  Amino acids with similar structure which are different by only one functional group gives the effect of the functional group.  Several amino acids were gasified in temperature range of 500-650 oC, under 25 MPa, and their gasification rates were compared with each other.
