An analysis of the turbulent and multiphase flow in a sieve trays column was made, comparing results obtained by physical experimental and numerical simulation, using deterministic chaos properties as tools for validation of CFD models. Common variables from this kind of process were evaluated, such as global and locals clear liquid heights, and also temperature. For the physical experimentation, a laboratory bench was used, containing a plexiglas column with three sieve trays, and the design for the experiments is composed by nine operational conditions, varying the gas superficial velocity (0.36, 0.42 and 0.5 m/s) and the liquid flow rate (20.0, 25.0 and 30.0 L/min). A commercial code was used for the numerical simulation, using a single tray stage domain operating in the same conditions from the physical experiments. The chaos analysis was made from an open source code, extracting estimates for the Kolmogorv-Sinai entropy and the correlation dimension. The results obtained by the numerical simulation are in concordance with the physical experimentation data.
