Session: Process Scale-Up Techniques for Pharmaceuticals, Fine and Specialty Chemicals
There are many universal challenges companies face when it comes to scale up of chemical processes. Although no two processes are ever completely the same, the methodologies, tools, and facilities are often similar. Challenges including heat transfer, mass transfer, and kinetics can result in process failures in terms of quality and more importantly safety implications. The use of reaction calorimetry, in-situ reaction monitoring, modeling and novel chemical engineering processes can assist today’s chemical engineer in a successful career in scale up. This session welcomes papers that identify scale up challenges and case studies demonstrating the utility of scale up techniques in the proposed areas.
