2013 AIChE Annual Meeting
Session: Novel Catalyst and Process Technologies for Production and Conversion of Synthesis Gas to Liquid Transportation Fuels
Due to volatility of oil prices, high demand of liquid transportation fuel round the globe, and new regulations on green house gas emissions, many industries and institutions are attempting to find novel and efficient ways to create synthesis gas and catalytically convert this material to liquid transportation fuels. It is an attempt to bring experts in the areas of ‘Production of Synthesis Gas and Its conversion to Liquid Fuels via Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis (FTS)’ together in this session (within Advanced Fossil Energy Utilization) at AIChE and learn from one another. This unique session will be a blend of academic and industrial presentations and expects to attract top people in this field. The suggested topics include: reforming of methane, novel catalytic materials for Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS) and higher alcohol synthesis (HAS), novel characterization techniques, new reactor development, reactor modeling, and life cycle analysis.
