(800j) Characterisation of Blended Biodiesel Produced By Trans-Esterification of Jatropha Oil

Edible and non edible oils can be used for the production of the Biodiesel. Traditionally edible oils such as coconut, soybean, rapeseed, canola, sunflower, corn oil and also palm oil are the most promising sources. This practice is not economical for countries which are not self-sufficient in edible oil. Thus, other alternative, non edible oil, is cheapest and economically more viable for the production of Biodiesel. In the present research non edible vegetable oil, obtained from Jatropha plant, was chosen to produce Biodiesel. Biodiesel produced by this process was mixed with Petro-diesel in different proportions. Results of physicochemical study of blends of Biodiesel and Petro-diesel will be presented.
