We evaluate the simplest relevant molecular model, a dilute suspension of rigid dumbbells, in large-amplitude oscillatory shear flow. We solve for the shear stress response, and specifically, we derive explicit expressions for the first and third harmonics. We thus connect the properties of the rigid dumbbells with the shear stress response, producing new structure-property relations for the interpretation of large-amplitude oscillatory shear flow measurements. We further explore the orientation distribution of the rigid dumbbells in large-amplitude oscillatory shear flow.
