Abstract: We here report on a mechanistic study of low-temperature methane combustion over Mn-based catalysts via operando Raman and kinetic measurements in a pressure range from 0.01 to 0.1MPa and temperature range from 298 to 753K. The variation of catalyst structure with temperature, pressure and ratio of CH4/O2 was thoroughly characterized. In addition, other techniques such as in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy of CO adsorption (DRIFTS), X-rays photon spectroscopy (XPS) were also used. We believe in situ/operando spectroscopies in combination with kinetics is a convenient and versatile technique for the investigation of the relationship of the catalyst structure and activity.
