Abstract
The using of natural products is one of principal topics of biotechnology development in our country. The important thing is how to purify the effect components from the product of extraction. Restveratrol, a polyphenol found in grap e and other natural products(like Polygonum cuspidatum), was shown to have cancer chemopreventive activity and was found to act as an antioxidant and antimutagen and anti-initiation activity. The Polygonum cuspidatum is a cheap and abundant natural plant. Except resveratol, the chemical ingredients of Polygonum cuspidatum such as emodin, physcion and chrysophanol also have special medical activities.. The purification active compounds from Polygonum cuspidatum extraction that will be a economical ideal.
The purpose of this study is to separate resveratrol and emodin from Polygonum cuspidatum extracted by supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC). Several operating parameters were investigated in this study, including stationary phases, pressure, temperature and modifier ratio of mobile phase. The best operating condition for chromatograph the extracted Polygonum cuspidatum was 2000 psi and 40°C supercritical CO2 with 10% (v/v) ethanol as modifier flowing through silica column for 50 min.
