Eulerian-Eulerian simulations are performed for a recently constructed low-temperature sorbent based CO2 capture system (Shadle et al.). The system, which is designed to process about 115 L/min of simulated flue gas, consists of a riser with mixing zone for absorption and a bubbling bed for regeneration. The results of both full loop and partial loop simulations are compared to non-reacting operation of the system with 200μm polystyrene particles. The sensitivity of the results to sub-models for drag, turbulence and frictional flow are also reported.
