2010 Annual Meeting
Session: Workshop On National Investment, Policy and Education in Simulation-Based Engineering and Science
RANTC, CoMSEF and CAST are co-sponsoring a Topical Summit on Simulation Based Engineering and Science (SBE&S) as a disruptive innovation, creating new and unexpected capabilities, markets and values for Chemical Engineering and the Chemical Process Industry. The Topical Summit will consider the implications of SBE&S for science and industry including key technological and applied capabilities and their impacts, the workforce, education, national investment and policy and the role of the Institute. The total solution to these challenges will not be found as a single approach, but in the commitment, application and assimilation of a model-based, knowledge enabled environment and a knowledge-enabled workforce that encompasses the full spectrum of enterprise product, operational and management lifecycles. When supported as such, it will become an economic and performance differentiator for industry. Over the next 25 years, those industries that develop and tap the power of SBE&S will be the most competitive and, on a global basis, will be the most able to work with the best in the world, driving global cooperation and competitiveness for economic growth, national security and social benefit. The workshop will be on program, educational and policy activities and the potential of an Institute Center.
