Electrospinning is a simple, convenient technique to generate submicron scale fibers. It provides a simple way to provide surface functionalities as well as modifying bulk properties of nanofibers. Length to diameter aspect ratio of these electrospun nanofibers are considerably greater than fibers obtained by other fabrication techniques. We have used electrospinning technique to make n-ZnO and p-NiO twisted nanofiber yarns. P-N junctions were made by using these two types of nanofiber yarns in two different ways. I-V property of these junctions showed clear rectifying property. These nanofiber p-n junctions may be suitable for use in optoelectronic devices, such as UV light detectors.
