Thermodynamics is core to the study of chemical engineering, and thermodynamics classes are viewed by students as among their most challenging. In addition to the energy analysis, students must understand and learn to solve problems based on chemical equilibrium analysis. Over the past century, topics such as biological applications, molecular models, and graphical representations have also emerged. This session will feature invited and contributed speakers who will provide their perspectives on the subject from historical, topical and pedagogical points of view. Speakers will review the past, present, and future of Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics with regard to these shifting emphases.
