2008 Annual Meeting

Session: Applications of Engineered Structured Particulates

This session invites abstracts of work involving nano and sub-micron scale particles that have been engineered to achieve desired physiochemical properties with improved characteristics for specific applications. The engineered particles can be of various types, for example: core-shell particles, Janus particles, particles with designed surface functionality, anisotropic particles, composite particles, and larger scale systems that rely on engineered particles. In most such cases, the emphasis is on effective utilization of the unique properties of the structured particulate systems with potential applications in a variety of industries including pharmaceuticals, optics, sensing, biomedical, defense, electronics, food, cosmetics, ceramics and specialty chemicals. Papers that discuss formation as well as unique applications are strongly encouraged.
