(459b) Experiences in Interfacing the Ik-Cape Thermodynamics Package to Cape-Open
Author
Von Wedel, L. - Presenter, AixCAPE
In the late eighties, a consortium of german companies called IK-CAPE developed a specification of routines to calculate thermophysical properties in FORTRAN. An implementation according to this specification was also developed and used in several in-house simulation codes and academic research projects. In a joint project with an industrial partner, AixCAPE has equipped this IK-CAPE package with a CAPE-OPEN thermodynamic interface to permit the use of the existing property data input files in state-of-the-art simulation environments.
The presentation explains the capabilities and legacy interfaces of the IK-CAPE package and describes technical aspects of the migration process. Further, experiences made with the CAPE-OPEN-compliant package obtained from this migration effort will be shared. Successful tests have been made with AspenPlus, Pro/II, COCO, gPROMS, and Simulis and will be reported.
