The lattice-Boltzmann method has been used for a number of years to simulate the dynamics of suspensions of colloidal and larger particles. More recently it has been applied to simulations of polymer solutions, using a force coupling scheme proposed by Ahlrichs and Duenweg. In this talk I will describe recent work on improvements in the force coupling, designed to give a better approximation to the hydrodynamic interactions and smoother trajectories. I will describe applications to the migration of polymers in confined geometries and outline possible extensions of the method to polyelectrolyte solutions.
