This paper describes the group design of a process facility to produce ethanol from waste paper. The technology is one integrating traditional and emerging chemical engineering topics. The proposed site and operating partner is a recycle paper processing plant at a facility that employs over 100 developmentally disabled citizens. The final plant is proposed to be operable with some of these same individuals. The preliminary economics are favorable. This process is shown to be one of the more thermodynamically sensible routes to ethanol. The presentation will present measures of student improvement.
