(183c) Modelling Opportunities and Challenges in the Pharmaceutical Industry

The development of pharmaceuticals involves the development of the process and chemistry to produce the active pharmaceutical ingredient as well as the development of the process and formulation to produce the final drug product. There are multiple opportunities to incorporate modeling into the process, yet adoption of simulations has been slow in the industry. Examples of the opprotunities and impediments to utilization will be discussed.
