(317b) Thermal Stability of Hollow Fibers in Olefin/Paraffin Distillation

In this study, hollow fiber membranes, made from polypropylene, polysulfone, polyvinylidene fluoride, and mixed ester, are used as structured packing materials in olefin/paraffin distillation. The capability and stability of these hollow fiber membranes have been investigated in the olefin/paraffin environments. Thermogravimetry analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) are conducted for fresh and soaked samples. The comparison of the morphology of fresh and soaked samples has been performed using scanning electron microscope (SEM) technique. The swellability of these membranes at different solvents and different temperatures will be discussed.
