A case is made for why SBIR is essential for the transformation of academics to entrepreneurship, and how it is instantiated in the case of Uncopiers, Inc. of Manhattan, the little apple. The presentation will also briefly describe the novel technology for controlling and harnessing phase-nucleation in the context of in-liquid particle detection. An attempt to chart the course of progress will illustrate significance of federal funding in cultivating innovation. It will become evident that without SBIR funding innovation would have stayed buried in the annals of archival publications.
