Shand Carbon Capture Test Facility (CCTF)

The Shand Carbon Capture Test Facility (CCTF) is co-developed by SaskPower and Hitachi limited. The 120 tonne per day facility is planned to help CCS technology vendors bring validated products to market. When considered in conjunction with SaskPower’s fully commercial CCS project at Boundary Dam, a robust evaluation of technologies can be provided through the CCTF. Construction of the test facility has begun and initial operations are expected to start in late 2014. This presentation will discuss the origins of the CCTF, its role in supporting next generation CCS initiatives, technical features of the facility and business models supporting the operation.
