ASME is developing a Performance Test Code (PTC) for Overall [Power] Plant Performance with Carbon Capture (PTC 48). Test results can then be used as defined by a contract for the basis of determination of fulfillment of contract performance guarantees. Test results can also be used for comparison to a design number, to trend performance changes over time, to help evaluate possible modifications or to validate them, or for any application in which the overall plant performance of a carbon capture plant with post combustion or oxy-fuel combustion is needed.
This Code will provide explicit procedures for the determination of overall performance of power plants with fuel fired steam generators and carbon capture. Test results provide a measure of the performance and efficiency of the carbon capture power plant or thermal-island at a specified cycle configuration at a specific operating disposition and/or fixed power level. This code provides the basis for correcting test data from specific operating conditions to a unique set of base reference conditions for comparison to guarantee values.
