ASHRAE Climatic Data Activities
Author
ASHRAE’s Technical Committee 4.2 Climatic Information identifies, analyzes and tabulates climatic data for use in analysis and design of heating, refrigeration, ventilation and air-conditioning systems. TC 4.2 is responsible for the quadrennial update of Chapter 14 Climatic Design Conditions in the ASHRAE Fundamentals Handbook. The chapter provides climatic data for more than 6,443 locations throughout the world. TC 4.2 also sponsors research – recent research includes new climatic design conditions for 2017 Handbook, macroclimatic regional models, weather data for energy calculations. TC 4.2 is responsible for updating and publishing ASHRAE Standard 169 Climatic Data for Building Design Standards, updated this fall (169-2013). This standard covers weather data used in ASHRAE standards, including dry-bulb, dew-point and wet-bulb temperatures, enthalpy, humidity ratio, wind conditions, solar irradiation, latitude, longitude, and elevation for locations worldwide including mean, average, median, and extremes. This presentation will cover types and examples of climatic data from TC 4.2 including measured climate trends.
