On December 11, 2005, the overfill of tank 912 at the Buncefield Terminal, Hemel Hempstead, UK , generated a large flammable cloud that produced a severe vapor cloud explosion. The assessment of the vapor cloud explosion is performed by using 3D dispersion in conjunction with a 3D model of the plant, the volume blockage ratio is calculated along with the flammable mass inside the congested region. The vapor cloud explosion is simulated using DNVGL PHAST Software. The overpressure results are similar to the overpressure reported at the buildings within the plant.
